Alpenglow has updated our lip balm containers to EcoSmart plastic. This is an earth-conscience, sustainable solution because it breaks down in biologically active environments. It’s FDA Compliant, scientifically tested and validated, and Made in USA.
EcoSmart plastic is made with PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) and PIR (Post-Industrial Recycled) plastic and then an organic additive is integrated to enhance biodegradation. The microbes in marine ecosystems and landfills do not feast on traditional plastic to break it down, in part because it repels water. The EcoSmart additive attracts both moisture and microbes to create a biofilm that allows the molecular structure of the plastic to expand and break down. The living microbes secrete enzymes which accelerate the biodegradation process, so the polymer breaks down into humus (rich organic soil). Amazon has completely changed the way we view shopping online. By charging $119 a year for Prime Membership, they separate the ‘pain’ of shipping costs from the shopping experience. Consumers highly value fast and reliable shipping but mega-retailers mislead us into believing that shipping is not something we should have to pay for, so we expect this perk.
There is no such thing as free shipping!
If you mail packages from the Post Office you might be aware that rates increase twice a year typically. Due to economies of scale, mega-retailers get far reduced shipping rates compared to mom and pop businesses. Don’t be deceived – you pay $119 a year for shipping.
Alpenglow is transparent in all of our pricing and we keep our product and shipping costs as low as possible. On average, we lose between $1 - $8 per order by not charging the full shipping cost we pay to ship your boxes to you.
So the below costs are real, not hidden.

We ship via US Postal Service PRIORITY MAIL which normally takes between 3-6 business days to arrive Outside of Alaska (the other 49 states) or 2-4 days in Alaska.
